I hardly go into an actual department store or shop on store websites for clothing.  Honestly, I can make garments faster and that fit better, which saves me time, money and more grey hair!  So when I saw the teasers for the new Love Notions Prisma Dress, I knew I had to jump on it!  Prisma is an on-trend design that is easy to customize and accessorize for a million different looks out of one pattern!

I was so lucky to test the Prisma Dress from Love Notions!  The one thing that I always say sets Love Notions apart is all of the features that are included in one pattern!  So, set’s talk features first!

  • 3 neckline options (Scoop, Boatneck, Peter Pan Collar)
  • 3 skirt options (A-line, Drop Waisted Flare and Pleated Skirt)
  • 3 sleeve lengths (Short, Elbow, Long)
  • 2 pocket options
  • wide range of sizes (2T-16)

For testing I made the simple scoop neck A-line.  I can’t even begin to tell you how fast and easy this simple little t-shirt dress was!  For any last minute school functions that you find out about the night before….this will be your go-to dress for your girly!  From cut to finish, I’d say it took me about 20 – 30 minutes!

The Prisma hit just above the knee on Rue.  I love this length since it looks cute with sandals for Spring and Summer or with boots for cooler weather (which we know nothing about!).  There’s just the right about of ease in the chest and waist so the top feels like you’re wearing a comfy tee and the bottom is not constricting.

This navy striped dress was inspired from a Mini Boden dress I saw on Pinterest!  I was blown away with the sweetness and the simplicity!  Don’t you agree??!  I will share how I created the bunny applique in a future post (it’s really easy)!  The stripes are cotton spandex from the Homestead Life Collection over at Girl Charlee .    I have made so many garments with this fabric!

The dress goes to a size 16 in kids.  Most know that I’m really petite.  So I thought that I’d give the size 16 a shot for myself.  Ruby is still into matching, so I’m all about making matching outfits for us!

I have to say that I’m normally a jeans and t-shirt girl, BUT, I voluntarily walked around in heels and my Prisma Dress all day because I loved the dress so much!  It was so comfortable and I received so many compliments!   The fabric for these is a Liverpool knit from Sly Fox Fabrics.  It was so soft and the drape was perfect.  I love the classic look for both of us!

I have several more yards of fabric from Girl Charlee that I plan on using to make more Mommy and Me Prisma creations!  So stay tuned!
