Kelly from Handmade Boy has done something amazing…she’s created a t-shirt pattern to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Kelly is a runner and is running for St. Jude’s soon.  She committed to raising $1000 and The Fighter Tee was born.

The Fighter Tee is a relaxed fit, unisex tee.  It is a fantastic scrap buster and is beginner friendly (so if you’re just starting to sew knits, this pattern is for you!).  Because of the relaxed fit, most of the sewing can be done with a regular straight stitch on your sewing machine.  You will need a stretch stitch or serger for the neck band, but that’s it!

I love color blocked shirts that aren’t overly color blocked.  The Fighter Tee is perfect for those left over scraps and can add that pop of color or just a bit of your favorite print.  My kids loved choosing their color blocked fabric (and if they get to choose, the likelihood of them wearing a garment again skyrockets!).   It’s also perfect for custom panels or for your favorite vinyl designs!

But do you want to know the best part about The Fighter Tee?  100% of the proceeds will be donated directly to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital!  From the drafting of the pattern (by Tami from Love Notions) to testing and promoting – it’s all been done for free by an amazing team!  It’s an amazing opportunity to sew your support!  The Fighter Tee pattern is only $5 too!  In case you’re not a seamstress and you’d just like to donate to Kelly’s efforts, you can click here.

In case you aren’t familiar with St. Jude’s, here’s a little fact: the patients and their families never receive a bill.  These are very sick children diagnosed with childhood cancers and other awful diseases.  From personal experience, medical bills and lengthy hospital stays add up and can create an enormous financial burden on families.  St. Jude’s foots the bill for all of the care for these children.

So grab your pattern, sew it up quick and let’s show Kelly how much we support her efforts in helping St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.   Check out all of the other great Fighter Tees on the tour!
