Well, it’s officially Fall and I can’t wait for the cooler weather to make its way down South! I’m not holding my breath that it will happen any time soon, but this year I can say that my wardrobe is prepared thanks to Love Notions’ Origami Tunic and Cardigan.
When I think of versatility of patterns, the first company that comes to mind is Love Notions. Not only are neckline and sleeve length options the norm, but in Origami, there’s even a cardigan option! Are you ready for this? Short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, long sleeve; banded neckline or cowl neckline; straight hem or handkerchief hem; tunic top or cardigan. All in one amazing pattern!
Since we had such a warm winter last year, I hoarded tons of sweater knits. When the first teaser “cool front” blew through town a few weeks ago, I sewed up allllllllll the Origamis!
Because the pattern features a straight hem or a handkerchief hem, you can add variety to your wardrobe with just this one single pattern. This floral french terry is my “oops” – after sewing the cardigan (which I wanted a bit longer), I forgot to shorten the pattern pieces to make it a tunic to wear with jeans. After I sewed this one, I felt it was too long for a tunic and too short (for my liking) as a dress. So I added a little trim and ended up with a fabulous dress! That little trim did the trick! Plus, I love that I can wear it plain, belted or with a jacket for several cute look!
I also love that I can make matching tunics for my daughter! She is 5 and still loves to match (hooray!!). The girls Origami does not include the cardigan, but it is just as fast and versatile! This style is really on trend and I love that I can whip these up quickly for both of us!
